The Truong Tan Buu Temple, situated in Hung Hoa Dong hamlet, Hung Nhuong commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province, is a historical monument dedicated to the memory of Truong Tan Buu, a prominent figure in Vietnamese history. Truong Tan Buu was born in Hung Le village, Bao Phuoc district, Vinh Long province (now part of Hung Nhuong commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province), in 1818. He was the fourth child of Mr. Truong Tan Khuong and Mrs. Tran Thi Nghia. Truong Tan Buu was a renowned general under the Nguyen dynasty, known for his martial prowess, calm demeanor, and heroic deeds. He played a crucial role in combating the "bandits of the sea," engaging in thirty-six battles against pirates to ensure peace and stability for the people. Recognizing his contributions, the Nguyen dynasty appointed him as the Deputy General of Long Van Hao. The Truong Tan Buu Temple, also known as the Long Van Hao Truong Tan Buu shrine, is located in Hung Hoa Dong hamlet, Hung Nhuong commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province, approximately 30km from Ben Tre city via provincial road 885 and 27km via provincial road 887 (now national highway 57C). The temple complex includes various structures such as gates, courtyards, worship halls, and guesthouses. Every year, during the Qingming Festival, the Truong Tan clan members from across the region return to Hung Le to honor their ancestors. Additionally, on the 11th day of the third lunar month, they gather to participate in the Qingming ceremony. Moreover, ceremonies are held at the temple on the 14th day of the first, seventh, and tenth lunar months.
