From Ben Tre City, following Provincial Road 885 to the entrance of Ba Tri town, turning right onto Huynh Van Anh street for about 500 meters, visitors will arrive at the special national monument of the Tomb and Memorial Area of Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

The special national monument of the Tomb and Memorial Area of Nguyen Dinh Chieu is located in Giồng Cụt hamlet, An Duc commune, Ba Tri district. The total area of the monument is 14,187.9 square meters, including points of interest such as: commemorative house, main temple, old temple, and grave area.

Upon entering the monument, visitors will be impressed by the design of the triple-gate entrance with two-tiered modern red-tiled roofs, with the eaves adorned with symbolic motifs resembling stylized lotus petals, representing the "brush strokes, poetic soul" of Đồ Chiểu.

Behind the main gate is a large courtyard entirely paved with granite stones. Prominent on the white stone foundation are the commemorative house and the main temple with green-tiled yin-yang roofs. This structure was started on July 1, 2000, and inaugurated on July 1, 2002. The commemorative house has two roofs, symbolizing the two main achievements of the Literary Master Nguyen Dinh Chieu in developing patriotic poetry and the lục bát poetic form. Inside the commemorative house are stone steles inscribed with biographies and praise for the virtues of Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

After visiting the commemorative house, visitors will proceed to offer incense in remembrance and listen to explanations about the life and career of Literary Master Nguyen Dinh Chieu at the main temple.

"Carrying countless unmoored boats,
Stabbing countless villainous pens."

Within the monument area, the old temple was built in 1972, covering an area of 84 square meters, with a brick-tiled floor and ancient yin-yang tiled roofs. In front of the old temple is a triple-gate entrance with classical architecture. Both the old temple and the gate are painted in bronze yellow, evoking nostalgia and providing a profound experience for visitors standing amidst the architectural space of the 1970s. The temple now serves as a place of worship for fallen soldiers, as well as a location where the Ba Tri District Traditional Medicine Association provides free herbal medicine to local residents.

The final attraction for visitors at the monument is the grave area of the Nguyen Dinh Chieu family. Here, in addition to the master's grave, there are also graves for his wife, Le Thi Dien, and his adopted daughter, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Khue, who wrote under the pen name Sương Nguyệt Anh.

The Tomb and Memorial Area of Nguyen Dinh Chieu was recognized as a special national monument on December 22, 2016, and is an ideal destination for educational trips and extracurricular activities for students, youth groups, and tourists. Additionally, within the monument area, there is a Satellite Station of the Non-Material Cultural Heritage Data Bank of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups, which stores and screens documentary films about the non-material cultural heritage of Ben Tre province for visitors.

On November 23, 2021, during the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris, France, poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu was honored and commemorated by UNESCO in recognition of the 200th anniversary of his birth in 2022.

In addition to regular visits, visitors can also plan to visit the monument during the period from July 1st to July 3rd each year. During this time, a festival is held at the monument to commemorate the birthday of Literary Master Nguyen Dinh Chieu, coinciding with the Cultural Traditional Day of Ben Tre province. The festival attracts many local visitors with activities such as: Southern Amateur Music Festival, Lục Vân Tiên Poetry Recitation Contest, Traditional Feast Competition - Memorial Feast, folk games like pot-breaking, tug-of-war, etc. Especially in recent years, there has been a Southern Folk Cake Festival with over 30 stalls selling various delicious traditional cakes, which surely brings interesting experiences to visitors when visiting the monument.
