Linh Phung Elementary School in Long My commune was established in 1962 with 3 classes, approximately 120 students, and 3 teachers. At 3:45 PM on May 29th, 1964 (lunar calendar), while the students were studying, a series of 155mm artillery shells from American bases relentlessly pounded around the school. A squadron of fighter jets then unleashed a barrage of napalm bombs, engulfing the school in flames, resulting in the deaths of 14 students, and injuring 29 students and teachers.
