To attract tourists to the locality, Ben Tre has implemented many innovative models in recent times. Along with that is implementing inter-regional tourism development cooperation between the Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.

Visiting Nguyen Dinh Chieu's mausoleum, experiencing river travel, exploring the islands on the river... are activities that attract many tourists to the Mekong Delta provinces in general and Ben Tre in particular.

Although there is potential for tourism development with many attractive activities, the number of tourists, especially international visitors to this area is still low. In 2023, the number of international tourists to 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta was just more than 2.1 million.

In Ben Tre, to attract tourists to come, the province has recently implemented many innovative models. Along with that is implementing inter-regional tourism development cooperation between the Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.

Recently, on April 16, 2024, Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee and Saigon Tourism Corporation (Saigontourist Group) signed a cooperation agreement for the period 2024-2029.

Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group said: "Ben Tre province has a lot of tourism resources. When we signed the contract, we also calculated very carefully, having unique products to introduce to tourists as well as developing cooperation to bring Saigontourist's strengths to support the province’s development, considering tourism as a key economic sector.

The signing ceremony aims to promote cooperation in tourism development, investment promotion, tourism product and service development, marketing promotion, event organization, human resource training and support for the tourism industry. In the process of development, turning tourism into a key economic sector, creating a driving force for socio-economic development of Ben Tre province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ben Tre, said: "Refer the results achieved in previous years, we wish and expect that Ben Tre tourism will contribute at least 10% to the province's GDP as well as Ben Tre tourism becoming a leading destination in the delta for international as well as domestic tourists.

According to the agreement, the two sides will coordinate to implement consulting cooperation activities to develop strategies, planning; long-term, medium-term and short-term plans in tourism; investment cooperation in creating new tourism products and services and regionally linked products; Cooperate in domestic and foreign tourism advertising and promotion activities.

The two sides cooperate to organize tourism, cultural and culinary festivals; Cooperate in training and training human resources to serve the tourism industry of Ben Tre province, along with other specific plans.
