The working group of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism surveyed the relic site of Mr. Nguyen Van Cung's house, Cay Da Doi Junction (Ba Tri district).

Current status of exploitation

According to the province's tourism development orientation, the province's main tourism products are: tourism to learn about culture, history, sources, ecological tourism, and resort tourism. In particular, historical - cultural heritage as well as architectural and artistic heritage (pavilions) have recently been exploited, becoming tourist destinations for tourists, and red addresses for students and scientists come to learn and research the culture and history of the province. The story at each destination becomes an indispensable tourism product in the Ben Tre tour. Prominent sites include Nguyen Dinh Chieu Tomb and Memorial Area, Dong Khoi Area, Cay Da Doi Area (and the site of Mr. Nguyen Van Cung's house), Tuyen Linh Pagoda, and artistic architectural sites such as: Tan Thach Communal House, Binh Hoa Communal House, Phu Le communal house…

However, exploiting and promoting the value of heritage sites still has certain limitations. According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, the urgent restoration, embellishment and repair of sites in some localities is not according to regulations. The province's resources as well as socialization mobilization are still limited, not meeting the actual degraded needs of ethnic minorities. In addition, the ability to inform, introduce, guide, and welcome guests at the site of those who directly manage communal houses and pagodas is also limited. Information, images, operating hours, welcoming visitors to the area, especially communal houses and pagodas on the province's official portals have not been updated...

Repair, embellish and exploit the value of monuments

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung said: Currently, the province is focusing on implementing restoration, embellishment and promoting the value of historical heritage in the province. Specifically, repair and embellish two special national heritage sites, Dong Khoi Heritage Site and Nguyen Dinh Chieu Tomb Area and Memorial Area. In addition, for the remaining ethnicities in the province, the province and the professional sector are paying attention to urgently renovating, embellishing, and repairing, especially for communal areas.

With the attention and leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is building a project to preserve, restore and promote the value of historical heritage in the province, in the period 2023 - 2025, with an orientation to 2023. In particular, the department prioritizes urgent areas to focus on repairing, renovating, preventing deterioration first, and phasing resources from the Central, provincial and socialized sources. For 2 special national areas, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has currently allocated 70 billion VND to renovate Nguyen Dinh Chieu Area. Phu Le communal house area has been prepared to be included in the medium-term public investment plan. Cay Da Doi site continues to invest in the urgent restoration and repair of Mr. Nguyen Van Cung's home location and complete the display marketing. Pham Ngoc Thao site (Provincial Museum building) has now been repaired and leak-proofed. For ethnic minorities, in addition to central and local capital, the department also calls on organizations and individuals, especially family ethnic groups, to use more funding in a timely manner to meet the needs of ethnic minorities.

In addition to preserving and embellishing the heritage, the authorities also pay more attention to training human resources and on-site demonstrations, especially members of the ceremonial committee and worship committee at communal houses so that these sites are not only destinations for studying and sightseeing, but also destinations for tourists to experience and learn about the province's communal house culture.

Regarding solutions to promote the value of tourism, in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to digitize national heritage (360 degree scanning) to apply smart tourism, paying attention to beautifying the general landscape of the area to welcome tourists. Currently, districts and cities have provided support to people directly managing national-level ethnic minorities. Thereby, contributing to encouraging and motivating people who directly manage the heritage to do a better job in preserving the heritage.
